For forty years there was a certain formula used to make James Bond movies. Sean Connery (the real James Bond) meshed with that formula perfectly. Sadly, that formula became down right silly by the middle of the Roger Moore incantation but improved with Timothy Dalton and Pierce Brosnan.

 

The formula's gone.

 

Casino Royale is very little like it's predecessors. But, then, even though it is set in present day, it is the first Bond movie. Double Oh Seven is just becoming the super secret agent he will be / was in GOLDFINGER and THUNDERBALL.

 

Daniel Craig doesn't look like James Bond but he sounds like him and acts like him.

 

By the time the end of the movie was near I had decided that it was a 9. In the last 3 seconds it became a 10.
